Frank Hansen

Frank Hansen - Avant Garde, yet old-fashioned.
For me, art is about freedom. No rules, no limits, and vague expectations. I paint about things I love, like the absurd. If the idea makes me laugh, that's reason enough. I paint about thing I hate, like censorship, greed, the government, and many current events. I paint stories about my wild and nearly unbelieveable childhood, and crazy family. I usually paint on wood, so I can scratch and attach, giving my art a look of purposeful chaos and 3-D elements at times. Most of all I love working on multiple pieces in a night, grabbing whatever color or tool is closest, while holding up a mirror to society. The final product can be funny, powerful, shocking, and risque; but never gets boring or stale.
