Maggie Douglas

Maggie Douglas is an artist based out of Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa with a BA in Art and Digital Design. She works as a graphic designer alongside developing her art practice. Nature’s influence on her work is demonstrated through watercolor-like paint techniques using natural forces move the paint. These organic shapes are then built upon with drawings that are imperfect and unrestrained, emanating the freedom that nature itself holds. Rooted in landscapes from Douglas’s memory, the abstract work remains open to interpretation, inviting viewers to rely on their own experiences of the natural world to determine what they see.
