A Seat at the Table
In an intentional effort to elevate cultural equity, diversity, and inclusion in our arts and culture community, the Des Moines Arts Festival hosts a quarterly conversation on how you can find your “Seat at the Table." Each conversation will include a panel of community partners sharing how they've been working towards cultural equity and how we, as a community, can collaborate to elevate the arts.

Meet our Facilitator
Kate Hightshoe-Lambert is creating a better human experience for all people.
Deeply committed to inclusion, Kate has spent nearly a decade spearheading meaningful conversations about the significance of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in corporate strategy. She believes the foundation of cultural change begins with expanding the definition of diversity, then drawing a direct correlation between employee personal experience and business performance.
She advises decision makers on how to not only envision but also become change within the organization to maximize meaningful outcomes. The result is high performing teams and increased engagement – a better human experience for employees and customers alike.
Kate oversees and facilitates the strategic DEI and culture initiative as AVP, Diversity Officer for QCR Holdings, Inc. Kate holds her Certified Diversity Professional (CDP) designation from The Institute for Diversity Certification.
Active in the community, Kate currently serves on the Board of Directors for BRAVO Greater Des Moines and the Des Moines Symphony & Academy, the Inclusion Council and Downtown Board for the Greater Des Moines Partnership, and the Des Moines Art Center Board of Directors. Kate is an Iowa Native by way of Busan, South Korea and has her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. She currently lives in Urbandale, Iowa, with her husband Dustin and three daughters.
