Megan Hammer

Megan Hammer transforms wispy wool fiber into soft, strong felt, exploring the potential for collaboration with nature. Intricate details complement fibrous texture in her work, embracing the harmony between intention and chance. A graduate of the University of Northern Iowa (BA, Studio Art), Megan exhibits her award-winning felted fine art regionally in galleries and juried art festivals, as well as in corporate and private collections. She shares her process while encouraging an appreciation for nature by teaching felting workshops, often partnering with organizations dedicated to conservation. Megan can be found gathering inspiration from her surroundings, whether wandering the wild prairie, or weeding her backyard flower garden. She lives in Urbandale, Iowa with her husband and two sons. Megan works and teaches from Mainframe Studios #223, Downtown Des Moines.
